Samuel Latimer
Founder & Principal Engineer · CEng MIStructE
Samuel founded SWAL Engineering in 2018 and has served as the principal engineer and director since its inception. A Chartered Structural Engineer and a member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, his career in private practice began in 2011.
He has been the lead engineer on a wide variety of projects across all construction sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, education, and healthcare. His expertise covers everything from the sensitive refurbishment of historic and listed buildings - and temporary works including façade retention - to the design of large-scale, multi-storey developments with basements.
In addition to structural engineering, Samuel has held lecturing positions at Anglia Ruskin University and overseen Structures and Materials labs at the University of Sheffield.
